The holiday season has arrived and it is starting to get cold! This is the perfect time for us to produce a well done paper. This month I created one of the coolest front covers I have every seen, this month was pretty huge for us because it was our first time printing the paper and handing them out. It was a huge success overall and the school seemed to love it. A huge improvement this month was the fact that our layouts and teamwork overall where so much better than last month. I am extremely proud of my staff and how well we are progressing over this school year. My biggest weakness this month was procrastinating the Table of Contents of our paper and giving it to one of our editors to look over quickly and it ended up having the wrong stories on it. My biggest strength this month was bringing the staff together to create the amazing November issue, everything flowed very efficiently this month and I was very happy to produce our paper.

This month was huge for our program as a whole, our newspaper layouts were absolutely amazing. I am very impressed with the hard work my staff has done so far and I am truly excited for what is to come. My strengths this month were leading by example with my layouts and doing my best to remain calm in stressful situations. This can help me in the future with any career with just designing in general, when something is more pleasing to the eye it tends to attract more attention. Remaining calm in a difficult situation can help me through anything and everything. My weakness was not being strict enough on my staff and some of them did not meet their deadlines, it caused the paper to have some mistakes in it because of this situation. I believe overall I improved on making my layouts aesthetically pleasing and managing how to just keep getting better at little things: communicating, teamwork, and simply giving 100%. One thing I want for the upcoming month is to have my staff produce their best work.
This month we completed our first newspaper. Viri and I completed all the layouts for this issue. With being an editor, it comes with huge responsibility, since we spent more time with the layouts it allowed us to be much more creative and intricate with detail; this essentially taught the group of editors to think outside the box with creativity. I can apply using more time to get everything right and use creativity in everything I do. Indesign is by far the program I mastered the most, learning how to use all the different tools. I still need to work on being patient with all of the new staff writers because it does take time to be good at something, and sometimes I have a hard time understanding that. I hope that next month everything will flow much smoother with this process of creating our magazine.
This month, I learned how to think outside the box and be creative when it came to the newspaper layouts. We spent more time working on the detail of these so we could produce only our best work. I can apply creativity in everything I do to make everything just a better experience. This month, I have been able to master the program and its little tools, with spending so much time on it, it forced me to just adapt to all its hinges. I still need to approve on being patient with the newer staff members because they do not know the ropes yet and essentially they need help along the way in producing and writing content. I hope that next month, things will be more efficient and our magazine will just continuously improve over time.
WELCOME BACK! The start of the school year always starts off a bit slow, but for this year, we wanted the staff to start off running. Figuring out how to connect with each one of the new staff members was a really important concept this month because it could potentially affect how the paper will turn out. Learning to connect with your fellow peers is important in anywhere you work, it effects the efficiently of anything and everything. I've been able to master time management between all classes, but mostly journalism. I also feel like time management can still improve, there is always room for improvement. For the upcoming month, I really hope ur staff creates a strong newspaper to start the year.
Happy Thanksgiving! My project was produced by the PBS Student Reporting Labs, overall it was a great experience and getting to see my video on such a huge platform and to be the only one produced from my school is just even better. Something I did this month is produced a informercial about the traffic near our school and how it can be fixed (the link will be on my journalism page). I learned how to use Adobe Premier Pro and am still playing around with it. Adobe is a much more efficient program to use for editing videos and I believe this will make my videos more professional and will make me a more profitable person overall in the future. This month I believe I have mastered editing and producing good content for the Jag Report. Adobe is something I am not completely comfortable with and I feel like it is something I need to work on and get comfortable overtime. A goal I have for next month is to produce more than 2 stories.
Happy Halloween!! This past month has been a great experience overall, we have finally began our first project with PBS Student Reporting Labs about youth voting. I really hope my project is chosen to be published on the PBS site itself. With this project I've gotten knowledge about different microphones and what type of interview they are used for. Another thing I learned is how to conduct a good interview by asking simple questions and using simple tips. These tools are good for my overall journalism career because it makes me that much better of a producer if I use the information given. A strength this month is my cameraman work because in the interviews where I am cameraman, I use all the tips our fabulous leader Kristy Choi gave us and the video comes out amazing, but there is always room for improvement and I hope that my camerawork can evolve into something greater. My goal for next month is to write a good article about something I love or an interesting person.
This month was so far very slow, by this time last year we were already producing a paper and I believe we are going this slow because of the new staff members. Since August, the new members have learned some techniques in the media world but they have not fully developed, it is is hard to work as a program if no one gets what we are about and what we do. One thing I learned this month is how to use a lavalier microphone for interviews. By learning how to use this type of microphone, it will help in conducting better interviews with better audio in the future. These past few months I have really mastered my intros and outros infront of the camera but I need to work on being in front of the camera much longer than a few seconds. In the next few months I want to be a better leader and really teach these new members what to do and how to do it.
Finally back in school. Being a leader in the new class trying to teach all the old ways is certainly a difficult task especially because more than half of the staff are new members. This month was going over certain tasks again for the new members but we as a program are now a part of PBS Student Reporting Labs. Through this program, it offers us the experience to learn more about conducting an interview the correct way. I believe by learning how to conduct an interview in the correct manner will expand my opportunities if I continue my journey in the media world and even in other careers. I strongly think that I do need to work on me speaking into a camera and not look so awkward, it is much different being the cameraman than it is being the talent of the shot. Next month I want to produce a story on the Jag Report and develop a relationship with the new staff members.
As the end of the school year approaches, finals approach, seniors leave, grades are finalized. Since last month, I have improved tremendously on my time managing. I strongly believe that my greatest strength of this month had to have been my time management. Of course, like I said last month, everything you can possibly do requires good time management. I still need improvement on my social skills such as not being so nervous when I am giving someone an interview, they should be the nervous ones. For the upcoming year, I want to be the best Noemi I can be. Stay true to who I am and love what I do.
